We’re Not Done Yet!

logo-rgb-3x3-resizedFrom RLAH Agent & 2018 DCAR President Christopher Suranna:

As you’re likely aware by now, the DC Council’s Housing Committee passed the single-family exemption to TOPA last Friday. This was a major step, and we sincerely appreciate all of you who came to show your support!

This is far from a done deal, however. Next, the bill must pass a difficult hurdle: a full Council vote. That’s scheduled for March 6th at 10am, and we’ll need even stronger in-person support, so please mark your calendars. Before that hearing, however, we have a simple ask. We’ve heard certain Councilmembers are considering amending the delicately drafted bill, which we fully support in its current language. This is a serious concern because it would significantly reduce the bill’s impact. To discourage them from doing so, we need to flood their inboxes.

Here’s what we need from you:

  1. Please copy & paste the email addresses of the Council members into the “To” box in your email client. You should be able to copy and paste them all at once.

2. Copy and paste the following text into the body of the email:

Dear Councilmembers,
I’m writing you today to ask you to please support Bill 22-0315, the “TOPA Single-family Home Exemption Amendment Act of 2018,” as currently written. This bill would address all of the major issues with TOPA for single-family homes, and I strongly urge you to support it as passed by the Housing Committee.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,

3. Under “Sincerely,” add your name.

4. Press send.
That’s it. The entire process shouldn’t take more than 60 seconds. We have sent this out to all DCAR board and committees and I thought having more help from the RLAH family would be great.

Thanks for your assistance.

Let’s get this DONE!!

#rlah @ GCAAR Installation

The Greater Capital Area Association of Realtors (GCAAR) installed its 2018 Board of Directors on Wednesday night at the annual holiday party at the Newseum. Not only was RLAH represented well in attendance but three of the twelve newly installed board members are part of the RLAH Real Estate family.

Lee Goldstein and Justin Levitch will be serving their first year on the local board while Andres Serafini will be serving his second consecutive year. It was only fitting that the D.C. Association of Realtors’ President Elect, Chris Suranna, fellow RLAH agent swore in the incoming GCAAR leadership.

#RLAH @ #NARannual

The RLAH team traveled to Chicago in early November for the National Association of Realtors’ Annual Conference.  Andres, Chris, Colin and Justin had committee meetings and association dinners to attend and Sean connected with his Certified Residential Specialist network. NAR’s Conference Expo is known for being one of the largest all year so the team visited many booths trying to find the next best service to bring back for their clients.  The RPAC event was at the Museum of Science & Industry which included an actual submarine and a mirror maze that they admittedly got lost in.  Saturday night the crew went to The Second City’s 106th Revue and laughed hysterically.  See you next November in Boston!
